Space Theme

The children think this theme is a BLAST!

Many children enjoy sharing some of their new knowledge with their parents and siblings.

From one of the books, "Looking at the Planets", we extract a phrase to help us remember the order of the planets by using the first initial of each word: My Very Excellent Mother Just Sent Us Nine Pizzas.

The class plays with our launching and exploration sites. The launching site includes a tower with an elevator, a launch pad that moves, the space shuttle, a radar station, fueling vehicles, astronauts and jet packs.

In the art area, our main activity is making space rockets. Stickers, glow-in-the-dark markers, pictures of space and red tissue paper are used to decorate them. Each child may also make a telescope with its own stars at one end. They quite enjoy making them and have fun looking through them.
