Teddy Bear Theme

The Teddy Bear Theme helps the children adjust to nursery school.

The class makes teddy bear cookies out of play-dough, plays with our plush bears, learns an assortment of bear puzzles and plays with the miniature bear house.

In the art area, the children use an assortment of collage materials to decorate the cutout bears. Once dried, these bears join our larger ones on the wall to complete the Teddy Bear’s Picnic display.

As a follow-up to the story "Barney Bear’s Pizza Shop", the children can have fun making their own pizzas using English muffins, pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese and pepperoni. They will all enjoy their snack that day!

During music time, the class learn songs such as "Teddy Bear", "The Bear Went Over The Mountain" and "Four Bears in the Bed".

We also begin to teach the class religious songs such as "Jesus loves the Little Children", and "My God is So Big". They also learn to say a short grace at snack time in both French and English.

Children will use rhythm sticks to tap the number of beats in their names, as well as "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star".
